I am the pastor called to Knox. My name is James Douglas and I’m a cradle Presbyterian. Of course, if my paternal grand-mother had had her way I would have been Baptist.
My family and I moved to Vankleek Hill from Port Dover, Ontario in July 2007 when my spouse, The Rev. Julia Apps Douglas (yes, that’s right she is clergy too) was called to serve as Minister of Word and Sacrament at St. Columba, Kirkhill and Kenyon, Dunvegan Presbyterian Churches.
I was called to pastor the pastoral charge of Knox Presbyterian Church, Vankleek Hill and St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Hawkesbury.
I am a graduate of the University of Guelph (BA- English Literature) Yay Gryphons!!
I earned my Bachelor of Theology (BTh) at McGill University, Montreal (Go Redmen!) and my Master of Divinity (MDiv) at the Presbyterian College, Montreal.
Having spent seven years in Montreal at Seminary (Presbyterian College) and my first pastoral charge (St. Laurent Presbyterian Church) it’s great to be closer to friends in Montreal and Ottawa.
Julia and I have three adult children; Nathanael, Robyn and Colin. And two chocolate standard bred poodles (Sophia & Coco Chanel)
We enjoy camping and volunteering at Gracefield Christian Camp & Conference Centre.
This area is rich in history and well blessed with people who enjoy sharing their musical gifts.
I am so pleased to be serving with the people of Knox Presbyterian Church as we do our best to honour God’s call to be salt and light in the world.
So check us out via this website or face to face.
Sunday morning we get together to worship at 11AM.
See you soon,
